4th of July celebrating….

July 4, 2012

Hi all! I hope you’re enjoying your holiday! I thought I’d stop in quickly to say hello and share a few pics of my {extended} family celebration. The kids and I are at Grandma and Papa’s farm today enjoying some time with family and trying to stay cool!

We had planned to attend the local small-town parade but, with the heat we’re having, decided it would be too uncomfortable for everyone. So, after a brilliant suggestion from my sister-in-law, we had our own parade! The kids all lined up in the driveway, paper bags for candy in hand. We gathered some tractors and trucks and the drivers (grandma, papa, aunts & uncles) threw candy at the kids! It was a blast and after the short parade was over we broke out the slip-and-slide and beach ball sprinkler to cool off in.

You know you’re a redneck when…..you hold your own parade! :-)

I was even able to get on the other side of the camera for a moment…here I am with my baby. She just turned one…isn’t she gorgeous. Of course, I may be a little biased. I wanted to get a picture with my whole crew but one of my little guys was napping. Oh well, next time.

And you know I won’t leave you without talking a little bit about food! I made these 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats for the kids. They came out more hot pink and aqua then red and blue but I just couldn’t stand the thought of adding even more food coloring;-)  They were gobbled up anyway.

What did you do to celebrate?! Any favorite desserts? I need ideas for next year;-)
