Steel-Cut Oatmeal with Maple Butter Pears

September 14, 2012

We’ve had tons of fun Thirty-One talk around here this week but you know I couldn’t leave you recipe-less. Here is a deliciously simple weekend breakfast…or dinner. Whatever floats your boat. I don’t know how something so (relatively) healthy can taste so amazingly good. But it does!

These maple butter pears might have something to do with it. Pears, soaked in butter and maple syrup…mmmm.

Wait….why didn’t I make more of these? They would be great over a dish of homemade vanilla ice cream!

But I digress.

Back to the oatmeal.

You really couldn’t ask for a heartier fall breakfast than this. I love the rustic feel of steel-cut oats. They take a little longer to cook but they’re definitely worth the wait!

And then you top the oatmeal with these mouth-watering pears, make sure you spoon on lots of buttery maple sauce!
