Hi blog friends! How have you been?! What started out as short (and unintended!) break from blogging turned into a rather exteeeeeeended blogging break.
So, here’s the low-down on what is going on at Becky Bakes.
Good news. The first trimester is over and I can actually consume food like a (relatively) normal human being again. It’s lovely.
Good news. While I’ve missed you, I have really enjoyed cooking and baking (when not nauseous) just for me. And, you know, family and friends. I don’t have to measure…or photograph, every recipe! Don’t get me wrong…I’m one of those odd ducks who gets a kick out taking pictures of food. But then again, sometimes it’s nice to just….not.
Bad news. I’ve enjoyed taking a break from blogging so much that I’ve decided to make it permanent….or at least semi-permanent. I would hate to close the door entirely since I’ve so enjoyed sharing recipes with all of you. For now though, I’m going to be focusing on more fully devoting my attention to some other important areas. Like welcoming baby number 5 to the family this year. Homeschooling my kiddos. Possibly moving to a new home. You know, life stuff:-)
Meanwhile, Becky Bakes will be around for awhile yet. I’ll be sure to let you know if I decide to close down the site so you can print any favorite recipes (O.K. Mom?)!
Thanks so much for visiting. I have really enjoyed sharing this food passion with you!

Hello Becky,
I found you through Fruity Lemonade. I read your post….and chuckled because I am going through the same exact thing right now….expecting our fifth, homeschooling, although I’m no longer in the first trimester-I had absolutely no desire to cook or bake or eat anything-lack of desire and lack of energy. And I am a foodie myself! Second trimester left me staying up late at night, when the house is quiet all because I woke up for no apparent reason at all or the fact that my growing belly is making sleep more uncomfortable as the days pass. So hopefully you will not be up all hours of the night like myself, but do hope you don’t stay away too long-your dishes look so delectable.
Many blessings!
Laina
Hi Laina! So nice to hear from you:-) I popped in on your blog…your family is beautiful. Oh, and I LOVE orange marmalade but I’ve never tried to make it. I’ll have to put that on my things to do list!
Congratulations!! That is so wonderful. Moving to a new area, too, or just a different home?
I’m so thankful for the recipes you’ve introduced me to, but I totally understand the need for a break. Enjoy it!
We are staying in the area…little bit bigger of a house…and acreage! Time to pull out the gardening gloves:-)
I found your blog not too long ago and love your recipes. I’m so sorry to see you go! But I know a little of how you feel. I only have two kids, and I just started my own blog this past year. Blogging takes a lot of time that has to come from somewhere, and unfortunately, it seems like it comes from my family time in one way or another, so I understand what you are saying. We also are planning a move this spring, to be closer to my husband’s job and to get more outdoor space (and freedom) on an acreage as well, and we are preparing to begin homeschooling our kids after the current school year. (I think. I haven’t quite made a complete jump off that fence yet.) Anyway, I know how you feel, and your post has helped me consider easing back on my blog but still leaving the option of popping in on it when it suits me. And my family. Best wishes to you, Becky!
Thanks Mindy! Sounds like we have some similarities. Let me know if you have any homeschooling questions, I love chatting homeschool:-) Your pies look amazing by the way!
I’m sad to hear this but happy for you & your family. Please do let us know if you close down the site because many of your recipes are my favorites! I hope all the “life stuff” goes smoothly for you. And if you get an inkling to come back to blogging, you’ll always be welcome!
Nancy, you are so sweet! And yes, I will be sure to announce if the blog officially shuts down.
You’ll be missed! But I’m glad you’re enjoying food again, and hope all goes well with number 5
I just found your blog and was really sad to see this post! I hope you are enjoying your children and maybe someday you’ll get the chance to come back to blogging
